"Ever since I was 15, I understood what being challenged in the outdoors could offer me, and I sought this path to where I am today, where I am able to live it and share it daily. Currently I live in Canmore, Alberta and guide year round in the surrounding mountains. Ice and mixed climbing fill my winters and rock and alpine adventures compose the summer months. The majority of my work is private guiding, but I also run women-specific rock, ice and alpine camps every year with the emphasis on building the confidence and judgment required to be out front."
When asked about what she has planned next, Sarah said: "I'm excited to be guiding a lot this winter here in the Rockies, as well as run my annual Women's Field in February ice camp which is already full at 10 women!"
She will also be attending the Ouray Icefest again, teaching clinics and competing in the Elite Mixed Competition and maybe even try the speed. You go, Sarah!!
After that, she says "I plan to head back to Helmcken if conditions allow to try my tools on some more steep spray ice. Always an intimidating and magical place. Finally- in February, Will and I will also be heading to China to explore some untouched ice and mixed routes and possibly a 2nd ascent of the Christmas Tree, whose photos lured us to the area at first glance! In between these trips, I have a ton of personal ice and mixed projects around here locally- which I hope to keep "chipping" away at!"
"Thanks again to Hot Chillys for all the support and keeping me warm in some of the toughest and coldest winters around!" You're welcome, Sarah! ~HC
