Founded in 1985, Hot Chillys revolutionized the industry with "The Original," the first body-fit base layer. A blend of polypropylene and wool with a signature stirrup for ski boots, it balanced warmth with moisture management. While our packaging has evolved from the iconic cans and wooden crates of the 80s, the technical legacy lives on today in our Micro-Elite Chamois.

1990's

As stretch pants dominated ski fashion, Hot Chillys introduced 
Chil-Gard™, a skin-tight fit designed to layer perfectly over our base layers. This launched our definitive brand promise: 'Nothing fits better, but nothing won’t keep you as warm.’

Bold colors and attention-grabbing prints were easy to see on the mountain.

Expanding the Hot Chillys collection of base layers included: Silk / Lycra® blend base layer that was featured in LIFE magazine as part of a feature article on Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith relaxing in their Vail, CO home, wearing Hot Chillys Silk base layer.

La Montana is a true heavyweight base layer that elevated retail to over $100 for a set of base layers. Winter sport enthusiasts loved it and gladly paid the price for the exceptional warmth La Montana still delivers today!

MTF4000 introduced Hot Chillys “MTF” Moisture Transfer Fiber technology. MTF4000 continues today as an online only product offering.

2000's

Lifestyle outerwear and midlayers featuring bold colors and patterns ranging from tropical birds to embossed jungle-inspired patterns. Outerwear with bold, unique tropical bird artwork in the lining of the jackets.

2010's

The 8K Collection consisted of products designed specifically for the challenge of summiting the 14 peaks in the world over 26,000 feet (8,000 meters) in elevation. At the time, Apa Sherpa, our brand ambassador for this collection, held the world record for summiting Mt. Everest more times than anyone else.
