Explore our guide to learn about our fabric technologies—including moisture-wicking performance, 4-way stretch, odor control, and thermal weight options—to help you layer up with confidence.
- Base layer is how you stay dry, warm, and in the zone. It's the secret to staying comfortable in all cold and cool weather activities.
- Hot Chillys are made to handle a wide range of temperatures and our tech is built to withstand different levels of moisture and activity without skipping a beat.
- Sporty type? More action (try a body fit) means you'll need less warmth from your base layer. Laid back? Chiller vibes and less movement may require warmer layers.
- Whether you're the one huddling by the fire fully bundled (try Warmth 10) or the bold spirit sporting shorts when it's 40 (try Warmth 7), it's good to know your cold tolerance.
- GSM, or grams per square meter, is the weight, in grams of a meter of material. A typical thought is that the more a material weighs, the warmer it will be. This is partially true, a heavier fleece will feel warmer than it's lighter cousin since it has more room to trap warm air.
If you think about it in extremes, a pound of feathers would keep your warmer than a pound of rocks.
Your garment is keeping you warm by keeping warm air near your body and by wicking moisture away from your skin, not only by weighing more on a scale.
In fact, you will feel warmer in our Bi-Ply, since it has two layers of material that trap warm air, than in our Pepper Skins, which is heavier by weight.
- Do you like a snug body fit that moves with you, or maybe a chillaxed relaxed fit is more your thing. If you are not sure, try Clima-Tek for more casual activities or Micro-Elite Chamois for more sporty activities.
Hugs your body and moves with you—no extra bulk, improved performance.
Engineered to roll with your movement, providing all over warmth and expedited moisture management.
Keeps you dry, warm and comfortable with our exclusive MTF technology enabled by hydrophobic yarns that move moisture away from your body.
UPF ratings indicate how much of the sun's UV radiation a fabric can block. Higher numbers block more UV rays.
Bio-Silver™ is a permanent, silver-ion based technology that helps prevent the growth of odor-causing bacteria on fabrics. Each fiber is infused or finished with microscopic silver particles that release ions when moisture and heat are present — the same conditions that cause odor. These ions disrupt bacterial cell activity, effectively stopping odor before it starts.
Far Infrared (FIR) yarn is engineered with ceramic or mineral-infused fibers that absorb your body’s natural heat and re-emit it back as gentle infrared energy. This process helps stimulate micro-circulation, improve warmth retention, and enhance muscle recovery—all without adding weight or bulk.
Graphene Fiber Weave blends ultra-conductive graphene particles into the fabric structure to deliver exceptional heat management, durability, and comfort. Known as one of the strongest and most thermally efficient materials on Earth, graphene helps your body maintain an ideal temperature—dispersing heat when you’re warm and retaining it when you’re cold.
Activated Carbon Fabric integrates microporous carbon particles into the fibers or fabric coating to deliver powerful odor absorption and moisture management. The high surface area of activated carbon traps and neutralizes odor molecules, keeping garments fresher for longer—even during extended wear or high-intensity activity.
Odor Control Fabric is engineered with advanced antimicrobial or odor-neutralizing technology that targets the root cause of odors: bacteria and microbes that thrive on sweat and moisture. Unlike masking fragrances, this fabric actively inhibits odor formation, keeping garments fresher throughout your day or activity —guaranteed for 20-30 washes.
