Not all Hot Chillys men’s bottoms include a fly, and that’s actually intentional. Each style is designed a little differently to balance comfort, performance, and layering function. Here’s why some have a fly and others don’t:

1. Fit and layering purpose

Hot Chillys base layers are meant to be worn close to the skin, often under ski or outerwear. In some of our more fitted styles, we skip the fly to keep the front panel smooth and eliminate extra seams or bulk. This helps the layer fit better under technical pants and makes movement more comfortable.

2. Fabric and warmth level

Different collections—like our Micro-Elite Chamois, La Montaña, or Pepper Skins—use unique fabrics and construction methods. Some heavier or looser styles (like La Montaña) may include a fly for convenience, while lighter or more compressive fabrics (like Micro-Elite Chamois) usually don’t, since the focus is on performance and warmth retention rather than access.

3. Product design evolution

Our fits and features have evolved over the years. Older versions of a style might include a fly, while newer generations may not. We continuously refine each design based on feedback and improvements in materials, so small differences like this can occur after a few seasons.
